Why anti-fog goggles help kids swim better

May 28, 2022

Tired of cloudy, steamy swim goggles making it hard to see?

Are you tired of cloudy, steamy swim goggles making it hard to see? It's hard to learn to swim when you can't see underwater. Swim goggles that fog over are especially challenging to young swimmers because they're just getting the hang of floating and moving in the pool. In addition, it can be almost impossible to add the eyelashes, character themes, sparkles, and other attachments around the eyes! We hope this post clears up a few things for you.

Why do swim goggles get foggy?

Like a car windshield, goggles fog up because the air inside the goggle is greater than outside. Your body raises the air temperature inside the goggle higher than the pool's temperature. The tiny cloud that forms inside your goggle lenses during your swim lesson is condensation when water vapor in warm, humid air comes in contact with a cold surface. Tiny water droplets form when the water vapor changes from a gas into a liquid during this process. As a result, it can be hard to see and swim safely.

All Frogglez Goggles have an anti-fog coating

We treat Frogglez Goggles lenses with a hydrophobic polymer that repels the water. The water beads up and runs off instead of spreading across the lens and fogging up vision. This is an excellent defense for kids against poor vision underwater, but like all anti-fog coatings, it wears off eventually. Touching the inside of the lenses can smudge the layer and make it wear off more quickly.

Get the most out of the anti-fog coating

If you look at the care tag sewn into each pair of Frogglez Goggles, you'll see this instruction, "Do not touch inside of goggle lenses." The best way to preserve the anti-fog coating on your swim goggles while cleaning them is to rinse them with cool water and leave them out to dry. Furthermore, for the layer to stay as long as possible, refrain from touching or smudging the lenses!

Proper care will give your swimming goggles a long life

We hope this unclouds your insight and vision! First, keep your hands and towel away from the inside of your lenses until your anti-fog coating is no longer working. Then, use one of the solutions above as a backup. Always rinse your swim goggles with clean water and allow them to air dry before storing.
