The History of Frogglez

March 06, 2014

It was about 5 years ago when I was at one of our first swim lessons with Olivia, my oldest. She was 5 years old back then and I clearly remember the pool...

A small room, packed with parents and kids, noisy, rowdy, hot and filled with stress in the air.

The swim instructor was standing in the pool and working with kids as they sat on the edge of the pool. Some were crying, some were quiet, but the most notable part of this entire Circus was the parents...The parents were trying everything in their power to be optimistic, happy and encouraging. I was one of them.

Now it was our turn. We rushed over to the pool, I "tried" to put on her swim goggles (the water is so chlorinated that you could smell it a mile away), but they were too tight and were pulling on her hair. I was stressed, she was getting frustrated, and the entire situation became one big dance around trying to make these swim goggles fit.

At that moment I had the usual thought: "Why are there no comfortable swim goggles for kids, this is just crazy!"

I went home that day and scowered the internet for comfortable swim goggles. There were none. So, being a hobby inventor I went into my basement "laboratory" and cut up some of my wetsuits (I now live in Kentucky and these poor wetsuits were just aging away next to my surfboards...).

A few minutes later I had created a functional prototype that solved our problems!

At our next swim lesson I was the only parent that did not struggle with swim goggles! Yes, the prototypes were not the prettiest but they worked. This gave me the encouragement to work on more esthetic versions. Soon parents were asking me where I got them!

Making future versions not only functional but cool was the fun part! I now make Frogglez Goggles in all shapes and forms, customize them for swim schools and water parks, and who knows what the future holds....

One thing is for certain, Frogglez Goggles are the most comfortable swim goggles in the World!

Keep Swimming,

Easy At-Home Activities for Toddlers Before Starting Swim Lessons

Some children love learning to swim, but others you have to help along. Swimming instruction is critical, but your child will progress faster if they already know a few basic skills. Engage your child in simple at-home activities to develop the emotional and physical skills they’ll need to make swim lessons more productive. Consult your pediatrician for additional emotional or physical milestones that indicate pool readiness.

Frogglez Protect your Child’s Eyes from Sunburn

Even if you wouldn’t dream of letting your kids play at the pool for hours without sunscreen, you might be letting it happen unintentionally. Frogglez goggles provide total UV protection in and out of the water for the entire time you’re outside. No matter how much you slather on the SPF to protect your child’s skin, their eyes are vulnerable to UV damage. Always remember to have your children wear adequate eye protection that blocks UV rays like Frogglez goggles.
